UKSSSC Group C Recruitment 2026: Quick Summary

The UKSSSC issued Advertisement No. 80/UKSSSC/2026 on 31 August 2026, offering 553 Group C positions — including Junior Assistant, Computer Assistant, Registration Clerk, Survey Lekhpal, and others — in various departments of the Uttarakhand government. Applications can be made online at sssc.uk.gov.in from 08 September to 07 October 2026. The written examination will take place on 15 November 2026, which means you have about 65 days to prepare for a 100-mark paper of which 40 marks are devoted solely to Uttarakhand-specific general knowledge.

The point I just mentioned is the one that most list articles tend to overlook. About half of your marks will depend on how familiar you are with your own state—not with national current affairs, not with reasoning techniques. We will go into more detail about what this 40-point section includes later on.

553 Vacancies: Where the Posts Actually Are

While most of the competing pages give the figure of '553 vacancies' and stop there, here is the actual breakdown by post, since your preparation priorities should be based on where the seats are rather than on the post with the most attractive name.

Post Name Vacancies Pay Level Pay Scale (₹)
Junior Assistant (various departments) 420 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Registration Clerk 55 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Assistant Mineral Supervisor 22 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Survey Lekhpal 16 Level-2 19,900 – 63,200
Computer Assistant 9 Level-4 25,500 – 81,100
Land Acquisition Amin/Inspector 8 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Junior Assistant / Co-Data Entry Operator 3 Level-4 25,500 – 81,100
Grihamata (House Mother) 3 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Ahalmad & Cashier 2 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100
Senior Assistant 1 Level-4 25,500 – 81,100
Telephone Operator 1 Level-5 29,200 – 92,300
Store Keeper 1 Level-3 21,700 – 69,100

76 per cent of all the positions (420 out of 553) are Junior Assistant roles. You will find the odds — as well as the pattern of the exam — are in your favour if you are preparing without a clear preference for a particular post.

The following departments — the State Tax department, the Rural Construction department, and the Employees' State Insurance Scheme — have posts which are still awaiting confirmation and will be included in the notice at a later stage. If you are aiming to apply for those departments, keep an eye on sssc.uk.gov.in for the addendum.

UKSSSC Junior Assistant Salary & Pay Matrix, Explained

The pay scale isn't uniform across posts — it scales with Pay Level under the Uttarakhand 7th Pay Commission matrix:

  • Level-2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200): Survey Lekhpal
  • Level-3 (₹21,700 – ₹69,100): Most Junior Assistant roles, Registration Clerk, Assistant Mineral Supervisor, Store Keeper, Grihamata, Ahalmad & Cashier
  • Level-4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100): Computer Assistant, Junior Assistant-cum-DEO, Senior Assistant
  • Level-5 (₹29,200 – ₹92,300): Telephone Operator

In addition to your basic salary, you should expect to receive the usual state government allowances—such as the DA, HRA, and any other components that apply to your posting location. The amount you will actually receive in your first year is generally higher than the basic pay figure on its own indicates when these allowances are taken into account.

Eligibility: Age Limit & Qualification

The educational qualification needed is a pass in Intermediate (Class 12) from the Uttarakhand Board, the UP Board, or a board that is recognised as equivalent; this satisfies the basic requirement for the majority of positions. For certain posts—such as Computer Assistant and Senior Assistant—there are extra requirements like typing speed, proficiency in MS Office, or a certificate in a computer course. Before deciding which post to apply for, refer to the annexure given separately for each post in the notification.

Age Limit (Calculated as on 01 July 2026)

Category Age Range
Most posts 18 – 42 years
Junior Assistant (Tourism Development Board, Department of Internal and Provincial Affairs, Advocate General's Office, Judicial and Legal Academy), Store Keeper 21 – 42 years

Age Relaxation

Category Relaxation
Uttarakhand SC/ST/OBC 5 years
Uttarakhand PwBD (Divyang) 10 years
Uttarakhand Dependents of Freedom Fighters 5 years
Ex-Servicemen Military service years deducted from actual age; up to 3 years beyond ceiling condoned

The matter of domicile is important here; the relaxations regarding category and age under the Uttarakhand rules apply only to candidates who are domiciled in Uttarakhand—applicants from outside the state may apply but do not benefit from these relaxations.

UKSSSC Group C 100-Mark Exam Pattern

A single paper, with the aim of assessing candidates, lasting two hours and involving no qualifying preliminary exams or a multi-stage written test—instead, it is this one 100-mark exam that determines who proceeds to the typing test and the DV stage.

Section Questions Marks
General Hindi 20 20
General Knowledge & General Studies 40 40
Uttarakhand General Knowledge 40 40
Total 100 100
  • For each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted.
  • The minimum qualifying percentages are 45% for the UR, EWS, and OBC categories and 35% for the SC and ST categories (in accordance with the standard UKSSSC norms — this should be verified against the final notification for this particular advertisement).
  • Merit is entirely determined by the marks obtained in written exams. The typing test that takes place for posts which require typing serves only as a qualifying exercise and does not count towards your score.

Why the 40-Mark Uttarakhand GK Section Decides This Exam

What most guidebooks fail to emphasize is that this one section is as important as General Hindi and General Studies put together; if you overlook it, your own score will be capped at 60% regardless of how good your reasoning or knowledge of current affairs is.

The Uttarakhand GK syllabus specifically covers:

  • History: Formation of the state, freedom movement contributions from the region, historical dynasties (Katyuri, Chand, Parmar/Panwar)
  • Geography: Garhwal and Kumaon physical divisions, major Himalayan peaks, glaciers, rivers (Ganga, Yamuna, Alaknanda, Bhagirathi origins), lakes, forest cover
  • Flora & Fauna: State animal, bird, tree; national parks and wildlife sanctuaries (Jim Corbett, Rajaji, Valley of Flowers); biodiversity hotspots
  • Culture & Heritage: Festivals (Nanda Devi Raj Jat, Harela), folk dances, traditional attire, local dialects (Garhwali, Kumaoni), pilgrimage circuits (Char Dham)
  • Economy: State budget highlights, major crops, horticulture, hydroelectric projects, tourism industry data
  • Local Governance & Current Affairs: Panchayati Raj structure in the state, recent state government schemes, administrative divisions and district reorganization

For maths preparation, since the exam is on 15 November 2026 and the applications start on 8 September, that gives you about 65 days from the time the applications open until the exam day. You should allocate about 25 days to Uttarakhand GK, 25 days to General Studies and reasoning, 10 days to Hindi, and then use the remaining time for mock tests and revision.
