The UGC NET Re-Exam Admit Card 2026 was made available on 04 September 2026 for those candidates who are taking the re-exam in English, Commerce, and Sociology. The re-examination will take place on 09 and 10 September 2026 at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. You can download the admit card using your Application Number and Date of Birth — although this procedure applies only to the three subjects mentioned, not to all of the 84 UGC NET papers.

You need not be concerned by this if you did not take English, Commerce, or Sociology in June; your result remains as originally declared.

What Is the Reason for the UGC NET Re-Exam in September 2026?

The UGC NET June 2026 examination took place from 22nd to 30th June and covered 84 subjects. Following the exam, a review committee identified errors of a factual, typographical, translation, and repeated-question nature, particularly in the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers. The NTA concluded that the only just course of action was to conduct a full reconduct for these three subjects, rather than awarding partial grace marks or making subjective corrections.

The results for the remaining 84 subjects who were not affected were announced as planned. For you, if your case is not among these three, this re-examination has no effect on your result.

UGC NET Re-Exam 2026 Subject-Wise Schedule

Make sure to look at your own admit card to see which slot you have been given, since you shouldn't assume it based just on this table, as in some cases a city/centre reallocation may change a candidate's exact reporting details.

How to Download UGC NET Re-Exam Admit Card 2026

1. Go to the official NTA website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in; some of the regional mirrors also pass through ugcnet.nta.nic.in, since both sites are operated by the NTA.
2. On the homepage you can find the link to the re-exam admit card; this link is given separately from the one for the original June admit card.
3. You can log in with your Application Number and Date of Birth (or with your password, as specified during your registration).
4. Check your details. Look at your name, photo, signature, subject, exam date, shift, and centre address.
5. Get the admit card and print it out; a digital version on your phone will not be accepted at the gate — you must have a physical printed copy.
6. Check that the city and centre you have been assigned match those that were allocated to you during the original June attempt — they might have been altered for the reconduct.

Exam Pattern: What's Different (and What Isn't) for the Re-Exam

• The total time allowed is 3 hours for both Paper-1 and Paper-2, with no break between the two papers. You will need to decide on your own how to allocate this time; the exam system will not compel you to switch from one paper to the other.
• Total questions: 150. Paper-1 has 50 questions. Paper-2 has 100 questions. This follows the usual UGC NET format.
• There is no negative marking; each question has only a positive consequence since there is no penalty for getting an answer wrong. You should attempt all 150 questions because leaving one blank is equivalent to answering it incorrectly, meaning that guessing costs you nothing.
• The criteria for qualification are that, in order to be eligible for the position of Assistant Professor, the number of candidates who qualify will be determined by 6 per cent of all those who took the exam — this being calculated from the higher of the two figures, namely the total number who sat the exam in June or the number who took the re-test in September.

UGC NET Exam Day Guidelines: Reporting Time & Gate Closing

• Make a report at least two hours before your shift begins so that there will be enough time for the search, biometric verification, and assigning of seats.
• The registration desk will close thirty minutes before the exam starts, and if you arrive after the gate-closing time you will not be admitted — neither because of traffic, weather, nor transport delays.
• Stay only in the seat that has been assigned to you. When you arrive at the door the centre staff will check your allocated seat against your admit card.

Mandatory Documents to Carry

• Printed copy of the UGC NET Re-Exam Admit Card 2026 (physical printout, not a phone screenshot)
• One original government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence
• One recent passport-size photograph, matching the one uploaded during application
• PwD/PwBD certificate, if applicable, along with any scribe-request documentation already approved by NTA

Items Not Allowed Inside the Exam Hall

• Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators
• Textbooks, notes, or any printed/written study material
• Food and beverages (check your specific admit card — some centres permit a transparent water bottle)
• Any bag, pouch, or wallet beyond what's explicitly permitted
