SSC Stenographer Tier 1 Admit Card 2026 Released: Download Grade C & D Hall Ticket, Check Exam City Status & Shift Timings

The admit card for the SSC Stenographer Tier-1 Grade 'C' and Grade 'D' Computer-Based Examination has been issued by the Staff Selection Commission. Candidates were able to view their hall tickets by region from 6 September 2026 onwards, prior to the exam period beginning on 9 September 2026.

The one thing you need to make sure of before doing anything else if you're taking this exam is that the paper contains no section on Mathematics or Numerical Aptitude. If your preparation has simply become focused on quantitative practice because of the way previous SSC exams were structured, then it would be better to spend that time somewhere else. All the details have been confirmed—see the download instructions, the precise 200-mark breakdown by subject, the shift and gate rules, and the ID document requirement, which catches more candidates by surprise than any other rule on this admit card.

A Note on the Exam Date Window

You might have come across slightly different dates for the exam window being given out — certain sources refer to a temporary extension until 15 September before the SSC cancelled the change to the schedule. According to the latest official update, the Tier-I Computer-Based Examination will take place from 9 to 12 September 2026. As this timetable has already been altered once this cycle, the exam date printed on your personal admit card should be regarded as the final one, even if it differs from that in any third-party article.

The Differentiator Every Candidate Must Get Right: No Maths, But a Strict ID Rule

More than any other item on the syllabus side, two facts are what define this exam.

First of all, there is no section on Quantitative Aptitude or Mathematics in this paper at all; the 200 marks are completely divided among English Language & Comprehension (100 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), and General Awareness (50 marks). If you've been preparing for the SSC CGL or CHSL exams where the Maths section makes up a quarter of the paper, you should adjust your approach now since all 200 of your marks here come from language, logic, and general awareness, not from calculation.

The second point—this is the rule which causes otherwise well-prepared candidates problems on the day of the exam—is that your original photo identification must show your full date of birth exactly as it appears on your admit card. If the ID you are using—for example, a PAN Card or a Voter ID that only displays your age and not your full date of birth—does not include your complete date of birth, then you must also carry an original 10th class (Matriculation) marksheet or certificate as proof of your date of birth. Otherwise, the exam centre staff are entitled to refuse your entry completely, no matter how correctly you have filled in and downloaded all the other information.

How to Download Your SSC Stenographer Tier-I Admit Card 2026

  1. Go to the official website at ssc.gov.in.
  2. The fact that SSC provides Stenographer admission cards on a regional basis means that you should go to the website of the particular Regional SSC Office if the hall ticket does not show up on the main portal.
  3. Check under the Admit Card or Notice Board section for the notice titled 'Admit Card for Stenographer Grade 'C' & 'D' Examination, 2026'.
  4. Click on the link and log in with your Registration Number or Roll Number and your Date of Birth or Password.
  5. Make sure that your Tier-I hall ticket appears on the screen and carefully check your name, photograph, roll number, exam date, shift, reporting time, gate closure time, and the address of the centre.
  6. Get the PDF and print out at least two clear copies before the date of your exam.

If your admit card still isn't appearing: the SSC will activate the download links on a regional basis in stages rather than releasing all the regions at the same time. Instead of thinking that there is a technical error, keep checking near your particular exam date during the 9 to 12 September period.

SSC Stenographer Tier-I: 200-Mark Subject Distribution

Section Subject Number of Questions Maximum Marks
Part I General Intelligence & Reasoning 50 50
Part II General Awareness 50 50
Part III English Language & Comprehension 100 100
Total 200 200

Key Exam Rules

  • The total time allowed is two hours, with the time for each section strictly enforced—usually 30 minutes for Part I and Part II and 60 minutes for Part III—making a total of the full two hours.
  • Candidates who are eligible for scribe assistance are given extra time, the total amount being about two hours and forty minutes (the time being increased in proportion for each section).
  • For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted.
  • The exam does not have a Quantitative Aptitude/Mathematics section at any stage of the CBT.
  • The questions are given in both Hindi and English with the exception of the English Language & Comprehension section, which consists solely of English.

Shift Timings & Gate Closing Protocol

At each centre, the Tier-I exam takes place in a number of shifts each day throughout the period from 9 to 12 September.

Detail Guidance
Number of Shifts Typically 2–3 shifts per day per centre
Reporting Time As specifically printed on your individual admit card — arrive well ahead of this
Gate Closure Time Strictly enforced; typically closes 30 minutes before the shift's scheduled start
Candidates Without Aadhaar Authentication Advised to report at least 2 hours before the scheduled shift time for additional verification
Exam Duration Per Shift 2 hours (extended for eligible scribe candidates)

This must absolutely be adhered to: if the gate closing time has passed, you will in no way be allowed in, even if your shift has not yet technically begun. The exact times for reporting and for the gate closing are specific to each shift and are given only on your personal hall ticket—do not use a general timing table from any source, including this one, when planning your personal schedule on the day of the exam.

Mandatory ID Document Checklist for Exam Day

Carry every item below without exception — SSC exam centres apply these rules strictly and uniformly:

  • Printed copy of the SSC Stenographer Tier-I Admit Card 2026 (clear printout, both pages if applicable)
  • One valid original photo ID proof — Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Passport, or PAN Card
  • If your photo ID does not display your complete Date of Birth, you must additionally carry an original 10th (Matriculation) pass certificate, or another accepted DOB proof such as a birth certificate, as specified in the official notice
  • Two recent passport-size colour photographs, especially if you have not completed Aadhaar-based authentication during application
  • Category certificate (if applicable), for reserved-category candidates
  • PwBD/Scribe-related documentation, if applicable to your case

The following items are not permitted in the examination room: mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, all kinds of electronic devices, bags, and any form of written material. Since most examination centres do not offer secure storage, it is advisable to leave them with someone who is outside the venue or in your car.
