The final result for the HPSC PGT Computer Science exam 2026 has been announced: you can download the merit list of the selected candidates in PDF form and check the cut-off at hpsc.gov.in.

The preparation took several months, involved a Subject Knowledge Test which lasted three hours, and also included an interview process that took place over a number of sessions in July — all of this has now led to the release of one PDF. The Haryana Public Service Commission has announced the HPSC PGT Computer Science Final Result 2026, indicating the candidates who have been recommended for permanent appointment as Post Graduate Teachers in the Rest of Haryana (ROH) and Mewat areas.

If you applied for this post through Advertisement No. 23/2026, the result that is relevant to you is the one I am now giving you—not the previous list from the Subject Knowledge Test, which had only informed you that you would go to interview. This is your final selection status. The following points have so far been confirmed: how to find out your roll number, the way in which the 87.5:12.5 scoring was calculated, what document verification entails, and what takes place between this point and the time when you receive your joining letter.

The Real Story Behind This Result: Merit, Not Just Marks

The differences between this latest result and the earlier SKT list that you might have looked at back in July are as follows: the previous result had only stated that you had passed the written Subject Knowledge Test and had therefore progressed to the interview stage; it gave no information regarding your actual rank or your chances of being selected. This result is the one that matters since it combines both stages into a single weighted score and clearly tells you whether or not you have been recommended for appointment.

The final merit is made up of 87.5% from the Subject Knowledge Test and 12.5% from the interview or viva voce. The Subject Knowledge Test was worth 150 marks and candidates had to score at least 35% to be eligible for an interview. Approximately twice as many candidates were shortlisted for interview as there were advertised posts—this meant that a large number of those who had passed the SKT were still having to compete fiercely for the small number of final positions.

The way the marks are weighted has an effect on the way you should assess your own performance. It is impossible for a strong interview to make up for a weak score in the Subject Knowledge Test, as the written exam accounts for the majority of your total marks. If you are dissatisfied with your final rank even though you had a good interview, then this marking system is very likely the reason.

The official notice also states that the HPSC has decided to leave 4 posts (3 general and 1 BC-A) vacant due to ongoing court cases, and has withheld the results of 456 candidates until it receives clarifications from the Government/Department. If your roll number is not found in either the Result-I or Result-II list, you should consider checking the withheld category before concluding that you have not been selected — HPSC usually issues a separate notice to clarify the cases that have been withheld.

Selection Statistics — Cadre-wise Breakdown

Cadre General SC BC-A BC-B EWS Total Advertised
Rest of Haryana (ROH) 859 327 163 82 163 1,594
Mewat 43 15 08 04 08 78
Grand Total 1,672

Regarding the final selection figures: Although several online reports mention 622 candidates as having been finally recommended for appointment out of the 1,672 posts that were advertised, the HPSC's official result notices state that 456 candidates were excluded and 4 posts remain vacant because of ongoing litigation; however, the consolidated "total recommended" figure is not given in any of the PDFs published by the Commission that were available at the time of writing. Therefore, candidates should regard any specific number of selected candidates, such as 622, as provisional until it has been verified directly against the roll-number list in the official Result-I and Result-II PDFs on hpsc.gov.in.

87.5:12.5 Scoring Breakdown

Component Total Marks Weightage in Final Merit Minimum Qualifying Requirement
Subject Knowledge Test (SKT) 150 87.5% 35% required to be eligible for interview
Interview / Viva-Voce In accordance with the notification 12.5% No separate published minimum; combined with SKT for final merit
Final Selection 100% Based on combined weighted score

The Subject Knowledge Test lasted for 180 minutes, took place in English and examined the essential aspects of Computer Science at the post-graduate teaching level. Since it accounts for almost nine-tenths of your total score, those preparing for future HPSC PGT cycles in other subjects should take note of this feature – it is a feature that is found throughout HPSC's PGT recruitment system, not something specific to Computer Science.
