UP SI Mock Test 2026–2027: Free Full-Length 160 Questions Online Test Series in Hindi

Last Updated: 26 September 2026
This test series has been brought up to date so that it conforms with the most recent exam pattern for the UPPRPB UP SI position and relates to the 2026–27 cycle; the pattern rules are still correct but the exam dates, the number of vacancies and the cutoff scores have been updated in accordance with the official announcements.

If someone is preparing for the Uttar Pradesh Sub Inspector (Daroga) recruitment, they will need a well-rounded knowledge of four different subjects within strict time limits. The UP SI Mock Test service on SarkariMockTest.com provides free, full-length practice papers that match the pattern of the official Computer-Based Test (CBT), this test comprising 160 questions and carrying 400 marks. Each test is timed for 120 minutes and has no negative marking, with automated assessment and a 35% sectional cutoff.

Many candidates achieve high total scores but are still disqualified because they do not meet the qualifying limit in Mool Vidhi or Mathematics. The practice platform features up-to-date legal sections reflecting the transition from the IPC and CrPC to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), includes questions on police mental attitude, and offers instant All India Rank tracking.

The 35% Sectional Cutoff Trap: How to Qualify in Every Single Section

Most of the candidates focus on the overall score and do not realise that the UP SI examination is not based on that score. One person might score 310 out of 400 and still be disqualified because their Mool Vidhi score was just below the 35 per cent limit. The exam does not take your general performance into account; it only looks at whether you have achieved a sufficient score in each section on the same day within the same time limit.

Under UPPRPB recruitment rules, you must clear two distinct hurdles:

 • To qualify for the 35% Sectional Cutoff, you must score at least 35% of the marks in each of the four sections separately; in a section marked out of 100 (comprising 40 questions), 35% corresponds to 35 marks and therefore you need at least 14 questions answered correctly.
 • In order to meet the Aggregate Benchmark you need to achieve an overall aggregate score of at least 50 per cent (which is equivalent to a minimum of 200 marks out of 400) when all the sections are considered together.

Section-Wise Minimum Qualifying Marks Table

Test Section Questions Total Marks 35% Sectional Qualifying Cutoff Consequence of Missing by 1 Question
Section 1: Hindi 40 Questions 100 Marks 35 Marks (14 Questions) Disqualified from entire merit list
Section 2: Mool Vidhi & GK 40 Questions 100 Marks 35 Marks (14 Questions) Disqualified from entire merit list
Section 3: Numerical Ability 40 Questions 100 Marks 35 Marks (14 Questions) Disqualified from entire merit list
Section 4: Mental Aptitude 40 Questions 100 Marks 35 Marks (14 Questions) Disqualified from entire merit list
Combined Paper 160 Questions 400 Marks 200 Marks (50% Overall Aggregate) Total failure if any section is below 35%

Illustrative Disqualification Scenario

Consider a real-world scenario of an engineering graduate appearing for the UP SI exam:

 • Section 1 (Hindi): 34 Correct (85 Marks)
 • Section 3 (Mathematics): 38 Correct (95 Marks)
 • Section 4 (Reasoning): 36 Correct (90 Marks)
 • In the section on Mool Vidhi & GK, 13 answers were correct (32.5 marks).
 • The total mark was 302.5 on a possible 400, equivalent to an aggregate of 75.6%.

The result is that the candidate is disqualified; even though they had a score above the general cutoff in three of the sections, the fact that they answered only 13 questions in Section 2 means that they fail to meet the required threshold of 14 questions (35%). The dashboard for the practice exam features a Sectional Cutoff Indicator which informs you if your score has achieved the 35% threshold in each of the four sections, so that you won't be led into celebrating a high total score which masks a significant weakness in one of the sections.

Why Most UP SI Mock Tests Fail Candidates

Many free test series create a false sense of confidence while ignoring the specific challenges of the UPPRPB examination:

 • Outdated Mool Vidhi questions exist since a number of examination boards still formulate their questions exclusively on the Indian Penal Code (1860) and the Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), without taking into consideration the new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, and BSA).
 • In the case of the banking and SSC exams, the organisations have substituted the specialised Mansik Abhiruchi section with types of puzzles similar to those for a bank clerk. With regard to the UP SI exam, the questions now focus on Police Attitude, Public Interest, Communal Harmony, and Crime Control rather than on general syllogisms.
 • Sectional cutoffs are not kept record of since the general test engines provide only the overall score and rank and do not show if you have met the absolute 35% cutoff in each separate section.
 • Certain examination platforms apply a random penalty of -0.25 or -0.50 marks, which is misleading since the official policy is one of no negative marking and therefore encourages candidates to leave questions unanswered.
 • Explanations that are too shallow—for example, answer keys which simply state 'Answer: B' without referring to the relevant legal sections, to important previous decisions by the Supreme Court, or to any mathematical shortcut formulas—fail to teach candidates how they can improve their reasoning.

Why This Mock Test Series Was Put Together

My name is Shubham Kumar Sah and I am the founder of SarkariMockTest.com. The various UP SI materials that I have looked at either reuse old Mool Vidhi questions which were from before the new criminal laws were introduced, or they provide only a general rank without informing the candidate if they have actually passed each section.

The two points most often overlooked are this: in most areas the Mool Vidhi is still taught in the traditional manner, without comparing the IPC and CrPC with the BNS and BNSS as the present syllabus requires. The second point is that almost no free test series makes it clear whether or not you have cleared the 35 per cent sectional cutoff, which is precisely the threshold at which high overall scorers are eliminated.

The series is based on both aspects. Each full-length mock exam includes a Sectional Cutoff Indicator. The Mool Vidhi labs are designed with the transition from old to new law in mind. The Mental Aptitude questions are specific to the police and not copies of SSC reasoning questions. Each explanation illustrates the method, not merely the answer key.

A major portion of the series remains free since a properly designed diagnostic shouldn't have a paywall that only applies to the app.

Whenever I am preparing this series, I make sure that each test answers the question of whether or not it reveals where a candidate's speed or sectional balance fails under exam pressure; if it does not, then it is not included.

Section-Wise Mock Test Breakdown & High-Yield Topics (40 Qs / 100 Marks Each)

The 160 questions are divided into four sections, each of which is worth 100 marks.

Section 1: Samanya Hindi (40 Questions / 100 Marks)

For most of the candidates, the General Hindi section is the one in which they obtain the highest score. If you have the correct answers to 35 or more questions (that is, 87.5 marks or more), then you have a strong foundation for your total score:

 • The major literary awards are the Sahitya Akademi, Jnanpith, and Vyas Samman. Information on famous poets and the main literary periods should be studied. The periods in question are Adikal, Bhaktikal, Ritikal, and Adhunikkal.
 • The six questions on Sandhi & Samas: the rules about vowel and consonant Sandhi, together with the classification of compound words.
 • There are five questions which will enable you to distinguish between classical Sanskrit words and vernacular derivatives.
 • Muhavare and Lokoktiyan (5 Questions): Rural and traditional idiomatic expressions.
 • Vartani and Vakya Shuddhi (5 Questions): Find mistakes in grammar, spelling, and word order.
 • Synonyms and antonyms (five questions): This involves nuanced synonyms and antonyms.
 • The recognition of poetic moods, metres, and figures of speech (such as Upama, Rupak, Utpreksha, and Shlesh).
 • Grammar Syntax (5 Questions): Case endings (Karak), gender (Ling), number (Vachan), and tenses (Kaal).

Section 2: Mool Vidhi, Samvidhan & Samanya Gyan (40 Questions / 100 Marks)

This section contains approximately 16 to 18 questions on Mool Vidhi (Basic Law), 10 to 12 questions on the Indian Constitution, and 10 to 12 questions on General Knowledge:

 • The change in the field of criminal law consists of comparing the old codes with the new statutes in respect to the fundamental principles of criminal liability, offences against the human body, offences against property, and the procedures for arrest.
 • Questions regarding Special and Local Acts and legislation on social welfare and criminal protection.
 • The Preamble, the Fundamental Rights, the Directive Principles, the Union Executive, Parliament, the provisions about emergency, and the Constitutional Amendments are all included in the Indian Constitution.
 • It includes general knowledge on general science, Indian history, the Indian economy, geography, the environment, and the main topics related to Uttar Pradesh special general knowledge.

Section 3: Sankhyatmak evam Mansik Yogyata (40 Questions / 100 Marks)

Mathematics evaluates arithmetic speed, algebraic fundamentals, and graph interpretation:

 • The arithmetic section used for commercial purposes included ten questions on percentages, profit and loss, discount, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, and partnership.
 • The topics included in the section on speed and work are time and work, pipes and cisterns, speed-time-distance, problems involving trains, and problems on boats and streams.
 • The section on algebra and geometry includes 8 questions and deals with number systems, HCF-LCM, quadratic equations, mensuration (which covers 2D areas and 3D volumes), and basic geometry theorems.
 • Data Interpretation (8 Questions): Tables, bar graphs, pie charts, and line graphs.
 • The section comprises eight questions involving mathematical reasoning, such as number sequences, mathematical coding, and analogical calculations.

Section 4: Mansik Abhiruchi & Tarkik Pariksha (40 Questions / 100 Marks)

This section combines specialized police mental aptitude with classical logical reasoning:

Specialized Police Mental Aptitude (Mansik Abhiruchi)

Unlike standard competitive reasoning tests, UP SI includes 12 to 15 questions evaluating your professional mindset as a future police officer:

 • Maintaining public trust, acting in accordance with the principle of community policing, and striking a balance between citizens' rights and the responsibilities of law enforcement are all things that concern both the police and the general public.
 • The handling of unlawful assemblies, the management of peaceful protests, the prevention of communal tension, and the preservation of evidence.
 • The rule of law and human rights mean respecting the limits set by the constitution, avoiding unnecessary detention, and treating vulnerable groups with dignity.
 • In specific situations making decisions by choosing responses that are legal, ethical, and calm—for example, in the case of riots, incidents of road rage, or calls involving domestic distress.

Logical & Analytical Reasoning (Tarkik Pariksha)

The remaining 25 to 28 questions test logical problem solving:

 • The content covers syllogisms, blood relationships, direction sense, coding and decoding, linear and circular seating arrangements, Venn diagrams, non-verbal sequences, and problems related to clocks and calendars.

Decoding Mool Vidhi: BNS/BNSS Updates & High-Scoring Legal Sections

The primary reason why highly qualified candidates do not meet the sectional cutoff is the Mool Vidhi; this section of the legal curriculum examines your knowledge of criminal law, the protections provided by human rights, and statutory acts.

CRIMINAL LAW TRANSITION ARCHITECTURE FOR UP SI Legal Transition

Essential Acts Every Aspirant Must Master

Questions frequently test definition clauses, penalty limits, and investigative procedures under specialized statutes:

 • The Children (Protection from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012 defines penetrative sexual assault, mandates reporting under Section 19, provides for statements to be recorded in a child-friendly way, and sets up Special Courts.
 • The Prevention of Atrocities Act of 1989 contains provisions concerning specified atrocities, the refusal to grant anticipatory bail, the rules regarding preliminary inquiries, and the scheme for compensating victims.
 • The Information Rights (RTI) Act of 2005 sets out time limits for the provision of information (the normal period being 30 days and 48 hours in cases where the information relates to life or liberty), creates Central and State Information Commissions, and contains the exemptions listed in Section 8.
 • The Information Technology (IT) Act of 2000 contains provisions on cyber offences, hacking, identity theft, the admissibility of electronic records, and cases which involve the exploitation of children.
 • The 1988 Motor Vehicles Act, including its amendments, has introduced greater penalty clauses for driving while intoxicated, requires mandatory insurance, and provides protection to Good Samaritans.
 • The definitions of public servants, criminal misconduct, the act of accepting gratification, and the conditions relating to the investigation provided under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
 • The structure and powers of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the State Human Rights Commissions (SHRC) as provided for under the Human Rights Protection Act, 1993.
 • The Dowry Prohibition Act of 1961 gives a definition of what is meant by the term 'dowry', states the penalties for giving, taking or demanding dowry, and also says that any agreement concerning dowry is void.

Landmark Supreme Court Judgments Commonly Referenced in UP SI

 • The 'Basic Structure Doctrine' was established in the case of Kesavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala (1973) on the basis that Parliament is not capable of making changes to the basic features of the Constitution as outlined in Article 368.
 • In Maneka Gandhi v. Union of India (1978) Article 21 was made wider so as to require that any procedure used by the state in depriving a person of their liberty should be "just, fair and reasonable", thus adopting the principle of procedural due process.
 • In D.K. Basu v. State of West Bengal (1997), 11 specific guidelines were set up and they had to be observed by police officers if they were to carry out an arrest or detention in order to avoid custodial violence and torture.
 • The guidelines for the protection of women against sexual harassment in the workplace were formulated as a result of the Vishaka v. State of Rajasthan (1997) case, which eventually led to the enactment of the POSH Act, 2013.
 • In Justice K.S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India (2017) the court reached a unanimous decision holding that the right to privacy is a fundamental right protected by Article 21 and Part III of the Constitution.
 • In Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India (2018) Section 377 was given an interpretation which took away the criminal penalty for consensual sex between adults.

Time Management Blueprint: Solving 160 Questions in 120 Minutes

The UP Police SI exam has a strict time limit. Candidates must answer 160 questions in 120 minutes, or 7,200 seconds. This means they have only 45 seconds on average for each question.

The reason why candidates fail is that, since mathematics and logical reasoning require manual calculation, they run out of time before being able to read through all the questions. If you follow a strict order when attempting the questions, you will be able to finish the paper without having to rush.

THE 45-SECOND PACING AND ATTEMPT-ORDER BLUEPRINT (OUR RECOMMENDED PLAN) Pacing Plan
Round 1. Samanya Hindi. Minutes 00 to 15. 40 Questions. 22.5 seconds for each question.
Round 2: Mool Vidhi and GK (from minute 15 to 30). 40 questions. 22.5 seconds per question.
Round 3: Mansik Abhiruchi/Logic (Minutes 30 to 70). 40 questions. 60.0 seconds for each question.
Round 4: Sankhyatmak (Math) (from minute 70 to 120), 40 questions (75.0 seconds per question)
| TOTAL ALLOCATION: 120 MINUTES | ZERO BUILT-IN BUFFER | DISCIPLINED PACING IS ESSENTIAL |

The Recommended Order of Attempt

In the first stage, dealing with Samanya Hindi (from minute 00 to 15), the Hindi questions test your direct vocabulary, your knowledge of the grammar rules and your familiarity with literary facts without any need for mathematical calculations. You are required to read and answer all of the 40 questions within 15 minutes; this will award you your first 100 marks and give you an extra 15 minutes for later use.

In stage 2, with regard to the section on Mool Vidhi, Samvidhan and GK (from minute 15 to 30), you either know the relevant legal provision or constitutional article or you don't; you should quickly answer the factual questions and finish the 40 questions in 15 minutes, leaving another 15 minutes.

In the third step, between the 30-minute and 70-minute marks, you have 40 minutes to answer the 40 questions on reasoning and police attitude, which means you get 60 seconds per question to read the situational scenarios and solve the seating arrangements properly.

In the fourth step, between the 70th and the 120th minute, spend the remaining 50 minutes on the 40 maths and graph questions by allocating 75 seconds to each calculation so that you will have enough time to carry out the multi-step arithmetic without becoming panicked.

Zero Negative Marking: Why a 100% Attempt Rate is Essential

As there is no negative marking, not answering a question means missing out on the chance of earning marks with no benefit.

If you encounter difficult mathematical problems when only two minutes remain, you should guess for all of the other questions before the timer expires. The chances of getting the question right increase from 25 per cent to 33 per cent or 50 per cent if you eliminate the options which you know are wrong.

Understanding Equipercentile Normalization

Because the UP SI examination takes place across multiple shifts with varying question sets, UPPRPB uses Equipercentile Normalization to calculate merit:

 • It's impossible to compare raw scores directly when looking at different shifts. A score of 280 obtained in a hard shift would be equivalent to 305 earned in an easier shift after normalization has been applied.
 • The normalization process determines your percentile rank within the particular shift to which you belong. Your normalized score will stay competitive so long as your accuracy is consistent throughout all the sections.

Previous Year Trend Analysis & Question Complexity Distribution

Analysis of verified past shift papers (such as the 2021 recruitment cycles) shows a distinct balance across question difficulty:

QUESTION DIFFICULTY ARCHITECTURE (OUR MOCK DESIGN) Distribution
Easy Questions (35%) -> Direct Hindi grammar, straightforward Constitution articles, simple math
Moderate Questions (45%) -> Multi-step arithmetic, situational police judgment, Special Acts math
Hard Questions (20%) -> Complex legal scenario mappings, circular seating puzzles, advanced DI

Easy Questions (35%): These include basic identification of Hindi grammar, the direct provisions of the constitution (for example, the articles on fundamental rights), and simple arithmetic formulas.

Moderate questions (45 per cent): two-step percentage and ratio problems, scenarios involving police situational decision-making, and the application of penalty clauses under the Special Acts.

Hard Questions (20%): Problems involving the application of criminal law that are complex, puzzles based on logical seating that have multiple variables, and multi-level data interpretation tables with missing values.

Common Mistakes Aspirants Make in UP SI Prep

 • Focusing on the total aggregate while neglecting the sectional cutoffs—spending 90% of one's study time on Hindi and Math while ignoring Mool Vidhi, ending up with an overall score of 300 or more but still being disqualified since only 13 questions were attempted in Section 2.
 • Focusing on obsolete IPC sections: merely remembering the old IPC section numbers without studying the provisions that correspond to the newly passed criminal laws (BNS and BNSS).
 • Considering mental aptitude to be just general reasoning: focusing only on coding-decoding and blood relations while neglecting the specialized aspects such as police attitude, public interest, and law-and-order situations.
 • In mathematics there is poor time management: when one spends between three and four minutes on difficult geometry or algebra problems at the beginning of the exam, there are 30 reasoning questions left unattempted by the time the time expires.
 • Failing to make use of the rule that gives no negative marking. Since there is no penalty, each question left blank is a scoring opportunity that is lost.
 • Doing mock tests without keeping an error logbook, merely to obtain a raw score without recording the specific legal articles or mathematical formulas that correspond to the incorrect answers.

Practical Preparation Advice: Sectional Balance and the 45-Second Rule

Succeeding in the UP Police Sub Inspector examination comes down to balanced preparation across all four subjects. Because UPPRPB enforces a mandatory 35% qualifying cutoff in every single section, spending 80% of your time on Mathematics and Hindi while neglecting legal provisions in Mool Vidhi is a direct path to disqualification. A score of 320 out of 400 means nothing if your Section 2 score falls below 35 marks.

Commit to your revision schedule: allocate 15 minutes every morning to reviewing legal provisions and constitutional articles using summary flashcards, practice 20 mathematics and reasoning problems daily, and take one full-length UP SI Mock Test every weekend under timed 120-minute conditions. Maintain an error notebook to record missed concepts, verify that your score clears the 35% threshold in every section on your diagnostic dashboard, and build the speed and confidence you need to secure your selection as a Sub Inspector.
