The Union Public Service Commission published the result of the written examination stage for the UPSC CAPF AC position in 2026 on 25 August 2026. Candidates who took the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination on 19 July 2026 can now view their roll number status on upsc.gov.in. It is important to make the following correction at the beginning: this recruitment drive announces 349 vacancies, not the 506 that is being circulated on various job websites—consider the figure in the official notification to be the correct one, since the third-party sources have given different numbers for this cycle.

The written result is only the first stage of the selection process. Since more than 1,600 candidates have been shortlisted for the Physical Standards Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), each of them now has to go through a compulsory further step which is entirely unrelated to fitness training.

The DAF Step Most Candidates Get Wrong

During this window, you must:

• Update your educational qualification status
• Upload proof of having passed your qualifying examination
• Verify and submit correspondence and permanent address details
• Confirm employment history and achievements
• Submit force preference/allocation order

Candidates who have already completed the Common Application Form (CAF) during the first registration phase must still log in, check their details, and then submit the Online Application Form on their own. If you omit this step your candidature will be cancelled—even if your roll number is included in the written result PDF. The UPSC does not treat this step as a mere formality; in previous cycles candidatures have been cancelled for missing the 15-day window no matter how strong your written examination score was.

PST/PET Physical Standards — What You Need to Clear

Both PST and PET are qualifying stages; they don't award any marks towards your final rank, but if you fail either one you are eliminated no matter how high your written score is.

Physical Standards Test (PST) checks:

• Height: 165 cm for male candidates (relaxation available for certain categories and specified regions); 157 cm for female candidates
• Chest: 81 cm unexpanded, with minimum expansion of 5 cm (male candidates)
• Weight: proportionate to height and age per the official medical standards table

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) events:

• Male candidates: 100m race, long jump, high jump
• Female candidates: 800m race, long jump

You must clear all of the PET events in one go on the same day, and if your performance in one event is inadequate during your test slot then no further attempt will be arranged.

What Happens After PST/PET

Those candidates who pass both physical tests then have to take a Medical Standards Test and a Medical Examination carried out by a government Medical Board, covering vision, hearing, musculoskeletal fitness and systemic health. Candidates do not take the Personality Test (the interview) until they have met the medical standards, it being a 150-mark examination. The final ranking is based on the combination of your score in the written examination and your score in the Personality Test — the PST, PET and medical clearance stay as qualifying hurdles, not as components of the score.

Documents to Carry to PST/PET

You should bring your E-Admit Card (which will be issued online after your PST/PET timetable has been confirmed), a hard copy of the DAF that you have submitted, and a valid photo identity document. The organisation responsible for overseeing your physical stage—usually the ITBP functions as the coordinating authority in this respect—will notify you of your exact date, time, and venue via its own recruitment portal, so be sure to check both the upsc.gov.in website and the recruitment website of the relevant force after you have submitted your DAF.

Force-Wise Vacancy Distribution

The 349 vacancies that have been notified are divided among the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB, the majority of them going to the BSF and CRPF. According to the present government policy, 10 per cent of the total vacancies are set aside for ex-servicemen. The precise number of vacancies for each force is given in the official written notice of the results—check there rather than depend on a fixed distribution, since the actual assignment to the various forces will later depend on merit rank, candidate preference, and the actual number of vacancies after verification.
